Last weekend, on Valentine’s day, Yellowknife experienced some ‘warm’ temperatures, so we headed outdoors! We went for a snowshoe in and amongst the Tin Can Hill area. Suffice to say, our snowshoes, which we purchased cheap and for southern Ontario winters, are not the most useful up here. The light and fluffy snow left us sinking, but we had a lot of fun regardless. We found it really awkward to walk on packed down snow afterwards. It was a cloudy day (usual with warm temperatures here), but it was nice to be outside without having to be all bundled up. It was also a relatively warm week here, on par with temperatures in southern Canada as of late.

Yellowknife was certainly starting to feel like home. We are settled and have developed our routines, but something was still missing…

We left our cat, Chloe, with her foster parents (Rashaad’s parents) when we abruptly left southern Ontario in January. Chloe must have been so confused. She had just returned from a week’s stay with them for the holidays when we found out we were moving, and then back she went! And then her real parents left her and were nowhere to be seen or heard from for a month. Then, on one of the coldest days of the year in Toronto, she was tricked into a cage, rushed into a car, and dropped off with strangers in an airport warehouse…

11 hours, 2 plane rides, and a layover later she arrived to bitter cold and a familiar face.

Settling in well, Chloe has found a favourite arm of a chair.

Chloe handled the travel very well, from what we know. She is settling in nicely here and we have enjoyed having her back in our lives. She makes it much more entertaining - even with the 3AM wakeup pounces because she doesn’t realize there is a time difference here.

Sorry we haven’t had more fun and exciting posts lately, but we have been working away! We are really looking forward to the arrival of some visitors in a few weeks and will have more fun photos then! And we hope that some of you will come visit in the future, as well. To end, here’s a sunrise photo and an aurora-from-our-balcony photo.
